Volunteers and their rights
I presume that ethics within my project will not post too much controversy. When it comes to filming the procedures I will adopt a volunteer release and have all participants sign it. The only thing I will be tampering with that might be contravertial is my goal. I am trying to show how indicators are miss-measured. I don't know for sure yet, but this might involve tampering and assumption with available data. I don't think it will be unethical in accordance to the articles we read.

Life as an indicator or an index
So this is my ruthless stab at a possible project. I was thinking along the lines of video, better known as documentary about the life or lives of indicators and indices.
The road I was following was that of a compilation, in which I would us past findings, contacts, essays, educational enhancements and combine them into a form of media that most of us seem to better understand than other forms, theater.
Anyways, I could start with the bottom of the food chain, people and things effected, and work my way up to the top of the food chain, the policy makers and economists.
Hesitations: Is this feasible? Can I find this happening in a reasonable location?
Excitements: I get to film and create a political discourse that might bring attention to this attention needing area.

Other Senior Seminar Projects
I was limited in uniqueness with Third World Studies senior seminar projects, but I came across one by Katelyn Kennedy about how international students acclimate themselves to a University in the United States. Basically, it describes the different stages that an international student goes through pending on where they are traveling from. It is very vague in terms of philosophical or statistical information, but very hands on. You can definitely tell that she has educational and voluntarial experience with this topic. Needless to say, she was also a good friend of mine and the paper expresses her interest and purpose as an IDS: Third World Studies major pretty well, for the most part.
Background to a Major Decision
Well, I started out as a physics major, thinking that I would attend grad school for mechanical engineering and work on plane engines. I had the entire thing figured out and planned, as most of us did after high school. I came to be that I was and am very interested in mechanics, but not interested in an academic sense; it is more of a hobby.
Anyways, push came to shove and I got really interested in the mathematical hemisphere of my physics classes. I also was taking a few random classes that I was interested in; they all tended to be political science classes. But I really do not like the curriculum for the PS majors. SO, I started to relate the two fields and browse political indicators. Now, I have a huge interest in measurable aspects of indication and how they predict or do not predict developmental happenings.
Que mas? I hope to gear my project towards the life of an indicator. Something dealing with everyday relation; you know, simple relation for better understanding.
